At the Faisalabad School for Peace in Faisalabad, 150 underprivileged children face daily disruptions to their education because of severe electricity shortages. During the scorching summer months, temperatures regularly rise between 45°C and 48°C, while ongoing power outages lasting 6 to 10 hours leave classrooms dark, unbearably hot and without reliable water access.
To help solve this crisis, the school is seeking support to install a 6KW Hybrid Solar System that will provide uninterrupted electricity for classrooms, lighting, fans, computers, water pumps and essential school operations. The project will directly benefit 150 students and 15 staff members.
Without stable electricity, children are often forced to study in unsafe conditions without functioning fans or air coolers. Water pumps regularly fail, leaving inadequate washroom facilities and affecting hygiene for students. Computer education, now essential for learning and future employment opportunities, is also heavily impacted because students and teachers cannot reliably use computers or internet services.
The proposed solar system will power:
15–20 ceiling fans and 25–30 LED lights
A water pump for clean water access
An air conditioner
5–6 computers, a printer and Wi-Fi
Battery backup for evening classes and exams.
The project will also reduce electricity costs, allowing the school to redirect savings towards books, uniforms, stationery and teacher salaries. Most importantly, it will provide children with a safer, more dignified learning environment and uninterrupted access to education.
Project Cost: AUD $6,350
Implemented by the Work for Peace Organization (WFPO), this project will bring lasting hope and opportunity to disadvantaged children in Pakistan.
