Locations: Buta Jira, Worabe, Durame, Alaba and Wolayta
The project is implemented across multiple regions in Southern Ethiopia, each with its unique socio-economic and cultural background. These areas are predominantly rural and semi-urban, with high levels of poverty and social vulnerability.
Regions Targeted:
- Buta Jira: Known for a mixed population, with a significant percentage being Muslim and Orthodox Christians, creating an opportunity for gospel outreach.
- Worabe: A region where access to resources is limited, particularly for marginalised communities.
- Durame: Primarily an agrarian community, with prison populations that are isolated and underserved.
- Alaba: A town with a high proportion of Muslims, where outreach efforts can build bridges and offer humanitarian aid.
- Wolayta: A densely populated region with high levels of poverty and a need for social development.
Objectives and Goals:
- Humanitarian Aid: Provide basic needs such as food, hygiene products, healthcare services, and educational programs to prisoners and their families.
Expected Outcomes and Impact:
- Improved health and living conditions for prisoners through the provision of food and healthcare.
- Positive behavioural changes among prisoners, including reduced recidivism rates, through moral and spiritual guidance.
- Strengthened relationships between prisoners and their families, offering social support for reintegration post-release.
- Community engagement and reduced stigmatisation of former prisoners.
